Grants
  • Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed by Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists. Deadline is August 26, 2020.
  • Arts Midwest to distribute an additional $1.5 million through United States Regional Arts Resilience Fund to support additional small arts organizations in the Midwest, prioritizing rural communities and arts organizations led by and/or serving indigenous people and people of color. This new expansion of the Fund will focus on supporting smaller organizations with pre-COVID-19 budgets between $50,000 and $249,999 in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and the Native nations that share this geography. Deadline is August 28, 2020.
  • The ND Department of Commerce announced the Economic Resiliency Grant (ERG) Program to assist businesses with COVID-19 response and recovery efforts. This is a grant, not a loan, and nonprofits are eligible. $69 million was approved to administer the Program which is geared to enhance revenue in both the immediate and long-term future by growing consumer confidence. To achieve this, North Dakota applicants may qualify to receive grant funding of up $50,000 for investments that will encourage customers to get back into the marketplace by ensuring businesses are equipped to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Deadline is August 28, 2020.
  • Innovate Grant is now accepting submissions for the Summer 2020 cycle. Innovate Grant awards (2) $550.00 grants each quarter, to one Visual Artist and one Photographer. In addition to receiving a grant award, winners will be featured and recognized on our website and join a growing community of vibrant and talented artists.
  • Bush Foundation Community Innovation Grant applications open: Bush Foundation Community Innovation Grants support communities to use problem-solving processes that lead to more effective, equitable and sustainable solutions. Think of it as civic R&D, allowing communities to develop and test new solutions to community challenges.  There are no longer any application deadlines for our Community Innovation grants. Organizations are welcome to apply anytime using our online application system.

  • National Endowment for the Arts projects: Projects may consist of one or more specific events or activities. Projects do not have to be new.   • The Fargo Lions Club, in cooperation with the City of Fargo, is seeking an artist(s) to create site-specific original artwork for the riverfront gateway plaza located at the corner of 1st Avenue North and 2nd Street North in Fargo, ND. This opportunity is open to established professional artists who reside in North Dakota, South Dakota, or Minnesota. The proposal deadline is 2:00 p.m. on October 30, 2020. Expected completion date for the installation is April 30, 2021.
  • Nelson County Arts Council announces Call for Artists for 2020 Pekin Days Art Show. Open to all artists 18+ and all work must be for sale. Deadline to enter is October 2, 2020.
  • All professional artists and craftsmen are invited to join Artists Sunday, a free nationwide promotional event encouraging consumers to shop directly with artists. Similar to Black Friday, but for specifically for art, it will be held on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Participation is free. Register by September 30, 2020.
  • Ongoing Call - NDCA is utilizing the exhibit space on the 18th floor, or Observation Deck, of the Capitol Building. This excellent well-lit space provides great views, in addition to displaying historical photos of the Capitol building over the years. It is the most visited floor of the Capitol, drawing over12,000 international, national, and statewide visitors every year.
  • Ongoing Call: Heart River Voice is a print publication that focuses on the North Dakota Communities in Dickinson and those in Stark County. 7,500 copies of HRV are distributed across the area each month.
