"Welcome to Jamestown" mural done by artist Paul Noot, commissioned by Jamestown Tourism, 2025
Murals Across North Dakota is the first of several special projects celebrating NDCA’s 60th anniversary in 2027. This statewide initiative will document, promote, and celebrate the murals that bring color, identity, and community pride to towns across North Dakota.
Why We’re Collecting Murals
- Showcase your community. Submitted murals help tell the story of North Dakota’s creativity and local character.
- Boost visibility and tourism. Every verified mural will appear on NDCA’s upcoming interactive online mural map, helping residents and visitors discover public art in all corners of the state.
- Possibility of publication. Select murals will be highlighted in NDCA’s 60th‑anniversary book, accompanied by professional photography and community stories.
- Preserve your local history. Sharing your mural helps document the artists, collaborations, and stories shaping our state’s cultural landscape.
What We’re Looking For
- Murals of any size, style, theme, or year
- Community murals, school murals, artist‑led murals, business‑commissioned murals, etc.
- Indoor and outdoor murals
- New murals and longstanding favorites
Gentle note: You do not need to be the artist to submit a mural. We welcome submissions from community members, building owners, organizations, photographers, and city staff.
