Dr. Denise Lajimodiere, an accomplished poet, educator, and cultural artist, will continue serving as North Dakota’s Poet Laureate through June 2028. The extension aligns her term with the newly established five-year term for the state troubadour, ensuring consistency between the two statewide honorary positions. As a citizen of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, Dr. Lajimodiere brings a powerful voice to the role—uplifting Native perspectives, preserving Ojibwe traditions, and connecting with communities across North Dakota.
